Regulatory Sunset and Review Act: House Government Reform and Oversight Committee expects to consider HR 994 in early June following adoption of the measure without amendment by the Subcommittee on National Economic Growth, Natural Resources & Regulatory Affairs May 18. Subcommittee Chairman David McIntosh (R-IN) describes the bill as "the next wave in regulatory reform," in that it applies to existing regulations rather than new rules. Introduced by Reps. John Mica (R-FL) and Jim Chapman (D-TX), the bill would require agencies to review existing regs every seven years applying risk assessment and cost-benefit standards.
