German giant Siemens has agreed to sell its health information technology business unit, Siemens Health Services, to health IT specialist Cerner for $1.3bn in cash. The move is the latest episode of Siemens’ streamlining under group CEO Joe Kaeser, who joined in July 2013 and has been wielding the axe ever since.
