Improved effectiveness of radiation therapy and enhanced patient safety will be the outcomes of a new standard on radiation therapy (RT) treatments, issued last week by MITA, the US Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance. Specific technical “fail safe” provisions to improve interoperability among devices are included in the standard, which breaks new ground in terms of safety.
