The number of US medical device recalls seems to be growing, with 23 in the second quarter and six in July alone, according to the FDA’s website. The Q2 figure is a leap from Q1, when there were just 13 recalls (www.clinica.co.uk, 14 May 2013). This begs the question of whether the agency is clamping down harder on companies or if the increase is just down to random variation.
