Executive Summary

Boston Scientific indicates that it will cost $75 million annually; for Stryker it will be $100 million: the cost to manufacturers of the 2.3% tax on US sales of most non-OTC medical devices, that is. Yesterday, reports said that the end-of-January first collection of the excise tax amounted to $97 million for the previous two weeks. It will average at $194 million per month in medical device tax payments to the IRS.
