Oxford Nanopore Technologies, a UK spin-out from the University of Oxford, has raised £31.4m ($50.8m) in venture financing, bringing the total raised since inception in 2005 to £105.4m. The company has developed a portable, disposable gene sequencing device called MinION that is the size of a USB memory stick and is expected to retail at less than $900 when launched later this year as planned.
