The Italian health ministry has launched a survey of capital equipment – both diagnostic and therapeutic – installed at national health service (SNS) facilities. The voluntary survey will seek to map not only the number of units and their technical characteristics, but also the way the equipment was purchased, the costs involved and how they are being managed. The survey will comprise equipment installed between 1 January 2008 and 31 May 2011. The deadline for responses, using a dedicated survey form and by email to the health ministry, is 31 July 2011.
