Boston adds Fukuda to Japanese CRM distributor network

Boston Scientific has strengthened it presence in the Japanese market by adding Fukuda Denshi as a distributor of its cardiac rhythm management (CRM) devices and accessories in the country. Fukuda will work alongside Boston’s own sales team in Japan; it will begin distributing Boston’s CRM technology, including ablation catheters, diagnostic catheters and electrophysiology products, this quarter. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Natick, Massachusetts-based Boston posted international CRM revenue of $852m in fiscal 2009. This figure represents around 33% of the company’s global CRM sales for that particular year. Boston’s company-wide sales in Japan during 2009 were $988m.
