Changing European IVD landscape and economic pressures lead to lower 2009 IVD sales growth

Sales of IVD products in Europe totalled €10.2bn ($13.4bn) in 2009, representing just 0.8% of the region’s total healthcare expenditure (THE), the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association (EDMA) reports. Furthermore, annual IVD sales growth slowed in 2009 compared to the previous year: revenue increased 3%from 2008 to2009, while it increased just over 4%between 2007 and 2008.
