Spanish experts warn of soaring allergies prevalence

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

The incidence of allergic conditions in Spain is rising by 2% per year and, within the next 10 years, could treble from the current 10 million patients, to between 20-30 million, according to the national association of allergology and clinical immunology (SEAIC). The role of diagnostic innovations – such as molecular diagnostics – in helping to address this rise, together with preventive measures, such as a drive to eliminate latex from the healthcare setting, are central themes of SEAIC’s 27th annual congress, which begins tomorrow in Madrid (10-13 November).
