UK's BioIndustry Association gets new chairman

The BioIndustry Association (BIA), the UK bioscience sector's trade association, has elected Tim Edwards as chairman. He will replace Dr Clive Dix, who has been chairman of the association for two and a half years. Mr Edwards is president and CEO of Cellzome, a company developing drugs for inflammatory diseases. He has also worked for British Biotech, ReOx (a spin-out from the University of Oxford), and as an investment banker specialising in the healthcare sector. The BIA, which is based in London, aims to promote the UK's biotech industry and has over 300 members.
