Executive Summary
Cook Medical has CE marked its Zenith AAA LP, a low-profile endovascular graft for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). The device will initially undergo a limited launch, with a full European rollout planned for the third quarter of 2010. With a delivery system 16 French (5.3mm) in diameter – most similar delivery systems measure 20-24 French (up to 8mm) – and a simplified deployment process, the Zenith AAA LP could help surgeons treat patients with difficult or tortuous arterial access who might otherwise have been ineligible for endovascular aneurysm repair. In addition, the graft can be inserted into the femoral artery percutaneously in some patients, Cook says.
