SpineGuard adds industry expert Olsen as chairman

Executive Summary

Pedicle screw placement specialist SpineGuard has elected orthopaedic entrepreneur Alan Olsen chairman. Mr Olsen has served as a director of SpineGuard since November 2009. He has in-depth knowledge of the orthopaedic market – he was founder and president of Danek Medical, which recorded more than $90m in orthopaedic sales in the early 1990s before merging with Sofamor and, later, being bought by Medtronic. Mr Olsen is also currently the CEO and chairman of Atlas Spine, a spinal implant company. SpineGuard markets the PediGuard device, which is designed to allow for safer pedicle screw placement in spine surgery.
