Baxter adds to perfusion business

Executive Summary
Baxter Healthcare (US) is to acquire Psicor, a provider of cardiovascular perfusion services to US hospitals, for $80 million. A condition of the deal is that Psicor sells its Office Labs subsidiary. "This acquisition strengthens our ability to offer customers a set of 'capitated' or fixed-cost products and services that will help hospitals manage the total cost of open-heart surgery," says Baxter executive vice-president Lester Knight.
