Executive Summary
The US FDA has approved Fonar's high-field open MRI system, the first of its kind. The 0.6 tesla Quad 12000 is open on all four sides and has just enough room for a child to sit upright in the scanning area. It will be launched at RSNA in Chicago later this month (November 26th-30th). Fonar says it is working on interventional MRI and low-cost MRI mammography protocols for the system.
