Disappointing first half for Amersham

Good performance by Amersham's healthcare division failed to raise overall first-half results for the UK health sciences group. Both turnover and pre-tax profits were flat at £163.9 million ($255 million) and £19.8 million respectively. Operating profits in the six months to September 30th, 1995, were £20.1 million, including £1.5 million from exchange rate movements, leaving underlying profits down 6%.
