Domestic production of haemodialysis filters has begun in Iran, according to local press reports. Soha, a medical device company belonging to the Iranian Red Crescent Organisation, commenced manufacture of the filters in early October. Soha will produce one million filters annually, of which half will go to the domestic market and half to neighbouring countries, replacing more expensive imported products. The Soha filters are priced at $6 each, compared with $40 for imports.
