Health authorities in Galicia, Spain, have inaugurated a cardiovascular health plan to assess the needs of the region. The results of a cardiovascular survey will be made public in January. Cardiovigo, a new interventional cardiology and cardiac unit at the Meixoeiro Hospital, will also be opened at the start of 1996. The unit will be run by Medtec (see Clinica No 634, p 4) and will carry out an estimated 500 interventions and 1,000 haemodynamic tests a year, says a report in Diario Medico. Original investment for Cardiovigo was Pta 1,000 million ($8 million).
