Several European GP bodies have formed the European Society of General Practice. Based in Strasbourg and comprising members of WONCA-Europe, SMIG, EGPRW, Euract and Equip, the society has been created to ensure the future of GPs in Europe in the light of their disappearance in the US, says Jan Heyrman, president of Euract. The new society's council has already elected its executive members led by Fred Oleson (Denmark), Vaclav Benes (Czech Republic), Philip Evans (UK) and Anna Kalkvist (Sweden), says Le Journal du Medecin.
