Executive Summary
At the thirteenth hour, Baxter, 3M and Bristol-Myers Squibb have come up with a new breast implant settlement which offers individual plaintiffs a fixed sum. As chances of a renegotiated settlement faded when the deadline of September 29th passed, the three companies produced a revised offer which is expected to cover around 30,000 American women who have received implants from Baxter, 3M or Bristol-Myers Squibb. The deal excludes non- Americans and all recipients of implants produced by other manufacturers including Dow Corning, the largest silicone implant producer.
