Leiras (Finland) has introduced its hormone-releasing IUD, Mirena, in Singapore through its local representative, Huhtamaki Leiras Singapore, which plans to market the device throughout Asia. First introduced in Finland in 1990, the device has been used by 300,000 woman in Europe. It is available in Scandinavia and the UK, where it was launched in May (see Clinica No 657, p 14).
