Cryolife (US) has been awarded a $90,000 grant to develop non-immunogenic bovine grafts. The Phase I Innovation Research Grant from the US NIH will be used to develop an anterior cruciate ligament replacement made from a combination of bovine and human cells. CryoLife's bioengineered porcine heart valve graft is due to enter animal trials this autumn. More than 300,000 anterior cruciate ligament replacement surgeries are performed in the US each year.
