Ciba Vision (Switzerland) is to increase its interest in the emerging refractive laser market by making an unspecified additional investment in US manufacturer Autonomous Technologies. The two companies formed an alliance last year to enhance development of medical laser technology for the surgical correction of common visual disorders (see Clinica No 608, p 16). Under the new agreement, the companies will combine to promote Autonomous' tracker-assisted photorefractive keratectomy device. Some 50% of adults worldwide suffer some sort of vision disorder, says Ciba Vision.
