New Vision Systems (Israel) has developed a miniature camera and integral light source for surgical examinations. Based on video devices and miniature CCD detector arrays available from manufacturers such as Sony and Panasonic, the ThimbleCam System also has a family of surgical accessories which can be fitted to the device head. These include biopsy forceps, surgical lasers and tools for insufflation, suction and electrocautery.
