Patient co-payments for healthcare have been introduced in Algeria, according to MEED. Outpatient consultations will cost AD 50 ($1.20), while specialist appointments will be charged at AD 100, as will each night of a hospital stay. A wide range of services will, however, remain exempt from charges, including emergency treatment, heart surgery, cancer treatment and transplants.
