The European Commission is allocating Ecu 12,300 million ($15,000 million) to its 1994-98 biotechnology programme. Areas covered, according to details recently published by the Science, Research and Development Directorate, DG XII, include: genome analysis; cell communication in neurosciences; immunology; and biotechnology information infrastructures.
