Arbitration in a patent dispute between Medtronic and St Jude, two manufacturers of cardiac devices, about which would have access to early patents of a third company, Angeion, awarded royalty free access to the patents to Medtronic. The dispute centred on Angeion's early defibrillator patents. Angeion says that it was not party to the arbitration and therefore is not bound by the arbitrators decision.
