Executive Summary
A laser technique that creates channels in the heart to replace cholesterol-blocked vessels is so much better than drug treatment that the FDA halted PLC Systems' Phase III trial prematurely, last week. Transmyocardial laser revascularisation (TMR) was inspired by the anatomy of a snake's heart which has no coronary arteries. Instead blood is sucked directly from the chambers through a multitude of narrow vessels.
