Executive Summary
Olympus has launched two new clinical chemistry analysers. The AU200, or Baby-AU, is the company's first bench-top system, while the 48-parameter, mid-range AU600 is the first clinical chemistry analyser to incorporate spot photometry. The photometer uses only 10% of the light employed by other systems and, according to Olympus, eliminates a significant amount of chromatic interference. An optical fibre links the photometer to a 32-bit RISC processor. Sample size is 150 micro l and both full size and paediatric tubes can be used.
