New research presented at the American College of Cardiology meeting in Orlando, last week confirms that the central articulation of the Palmaz-Schatz stent is its Achilles heel, allowing plaque to prolapse through the steel mesh. However, the study refuted previous observations that overlapping multiple stents cause excess restenosis.
