Executive Summary
A team of surgeons at Bristol Royal Infirmary in the UK performed a combined bypass and PTCA procedure in a 61 year old man using a minimally invasive technique developed by British Heart Foundation professor Gianni Angelini, earlier this month. The team replaced a vessel on the front of the heart and used angioplasty on a vessel behind it. Anterior vessels are not accessible to the MIS technique, which has been performed on over 200 patients in the UK.
