Executive Summary
SpectRx has acquired an exclusive licence to the fluorescence lifetime spectroscopy patent portfolio of Dr Joseph Lakowicz, professor of biochemistry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The 22 patents relate to lifetime fluorescence, which is superior to intensity-based sensing because it is unaffected by surface misalignment or light loss from optical fibres. Medical technologies in the patent portfolio include blood gas and pH measurement at point-of-care; a subdermal blood glucose sensor; and microscopic imaging of cells.
