Executive Summary
Theratechnologies has awarded Mitsui & Co exclusive Japanese distribution rights to its Stethos electronic stethoscope and Stethos clinical system. Mitsui is a large general trading company which is becoming increasingly involved in the import and distribution of medical equipment. The Canadian firm plans to launch the stethoscope to cardiologists, general practitioners and clinic- and hospital-based nurses initially. The clinical system, which features a computer interface and software to record and reproduce sounds, will be introduced at a later date. The Japanese market has 215,000 doctors and around 4,000 private clinics and hospitals, Theratechnologies says.
