Executive Summary
Spacelabs Medical claims that it has produced the first bi-directional, open architecture cardiology data transfer system for hospital-wide use. Its system takes bedside ECG data to its Pyramis work station and then to a central data repository. The data from the bedside as well as stress- and ambulatory ECG's can be called back by the clinician at the point of care. The system has been developed in conjunction with its Intesys and Burdick subsidiaries. It uses the Standard Communication Protocol for ECG and HL7, making it available for use with other manufacturers' equipment.
