Hong Kong needs cervical screening, say doctors:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Doctors in Hong Kong have called for the introduction of an organised cervical screening programme targeted at high-risk groups, reports the South China Morning Post. Only around 20% of women in Hong Kong undergo regular smear tests, compared with 70% in the US and nearly 80% in Europe. Cervical cancer is striking at an increasingly early age in Hong Kong. The mean age at diagnosis fell from 56.7 in 1992 to 49.9 last year and almost 62% of sufferers are now aged under 50.
