Lucent granted patents to detect devices in body

Lucent Medical Systems has received two US patents covering medical devices that detect tubes and catheters within the body. The first patent covers magnetically tagged disposable tubes and a hand-held detector to detect medical devices in the body, while the second extends the scope of the initial patent. The company expects to market them by the end of 1998.
