Peter Hartman, former chief finance officer of now-defunct Cambridge Biotech, has received five years' probation and a fine of $540,000 for his part in falsely inflating the company's revenues. The judge in the case said that Mr Hartman would have received a lengthy prison term, but for the fact that he has AIDS. The company has no connection with bioMerieux Vitek's subsidiary of the same name.
