Origin Medsystems, a division of Guidant, has infringed a patent concerning balloon dissection technology, according to General Surgical Innovations. GSI has filed suit claiming that Origin has infringed a GSI patent concerning the minimally invasive sequential dissection of tissue planes along elongated body structures, using balloon inflation techniques.
