Executive Summary
German company Bayer has introduced CHr, an assay for monitoring the treatment of anaemia. The test measures haemoglobin in newly-produced red blood cells or reticulocytes. The assay will allow physicians to gain an immediate picture of functional iron status. The test can be used on Bayer's Technicon H3 haematology analysers and on the Advia 120 haematology system, which was unveiled in Rome last week (see this issue, p 11).
