Medtronic Japan has asked all directors aged over 56 to resign and has promoted the cardiac division director, Hiroshi Kudo, to vice-president and representative director, commercial operations, reports the Japan Medical Review. At the same time the company has ceased Japanese production of implantable pacemakers, citing high labour costs and changes in insurance reimbursement. Mr Kudo said that the management changes represent a "rejuvenation" of the company.
