This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

US Surgical has said that its Vascular Therapies division could begin Phase II trials of a device for treating blocked arteries with gamma radiation in the next few weeks following successful initial studies. The Phase I trials tested the device, called the AngioRad system, in patients whose arteries had become blocked again after angioplasty or angioplasty with stenting. The device is used to place a tiny radioactive wire in the affected artery.
