Dutch researchers have reported that using an abdominal artery to help supply blood to the heart as well as chest arteries is more effective than conventional bypass surgery which uses a mix of veins and arteries. In this new procedure, a graft from the artery which supplies blood to the stomach was used with grafts from two thoracic arteries.
