Sofamor Danek's first-quarter sales rose 27% to $88.5 million, while net income was $16.5 million, compared with $12.8 million the previous quarter. The Memphis, Tennessee-based company said that, excluding unfavourable exchange rate fluctuations, sales growth was 41%. In March, the company formed a marketing agreement for GE Medical Systems' Signa SP Intraoperative magnetic resonance system in the US. As part of the deal, Sofamor's StealthStation treatment guidance platform for computer-assisted, image guided surgery will be integrated into the Signa.
