The European Commission has published a list of European Pharmacopoeia monographs relating to medical devices. They are for sterile catgut, sterile non-absorbable sutures, sterile synthetic absorbable monofilament and sterile synthetic absorbable braided sutures. By following these monographs manufacturers can demonstrate they have met the essential requirements of the Medical Devices Directive.
