Executive Summary

Women's health company BEI Medical Systems is to sell a range of its products, which together account for around 96% of total revenues, to CooperSurgical for $11.2 million in cash and liability assumption. The sale includes products for the examination, manipulation and treatment of the cervix and uterus. Teterboro, New Jersey-based BEI Medical will use the proceeds for the development and marketing of its Hydro ThermAblator for the treatment of excessive uterine bleeding. BEI Medical hopes to file for pre-market approval for the device in autumn 2000.
