Trex Medical said that its third-quarter sales of $63.1 million, down from $72.1 million in the same period last year, were disappointing. The Danbury, Connecticut-based Thermo Electron subsidiary said that lower sales of biopsy systems were expected, while sales of mammography systems improved by 24%. Trex made a net loss of $14.3 million for the quarter, compared with $5.6 million profit in the same quarter in 1998.
