Executive Summary
Reports of adverse incidents with medical devices have increased by an average of 12% annually for the past five years, says the UK Medical Devices Agency (MDA) in its recently-published 1999-2000 business plan. Between 1998 and 1999 a rise of 3% took the number of reported incidents to 6,125. This, however, was a much smaller increase than the 30% seen the previous year.
