Executive Summary
US optical company Paradigm Medical Industries has bought OBF Labs, a UK company which sells a proprietary device for the measurement of oxygenated blood flow to the eye. A lack of adequate blood flow is believed to cause age-related macular degeneration. Malmsbury-based OBF says its device, which has FDA approval for glaucoma screening, may also be used to identify potential stroke victims. Paradigm, which is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, manufactures and distributes diagnostic eye care equipment and surgical systems for minimally invasive cataract treatments.
