Executive Summary

Hong Kong is to use Cytyc's ThinPrep Pap test for its national cervical cancer screening programme. The test analyses will be carried out at the University of Hong Kong. The move follows a Hong Kong-based study which reported a significant increase in the detection of low-grade and high-grade lesions when using the ThinPrep compared with the conventional Pap smear. Approximately 100,000 Pap tests are performed annually in Hong Kong.
