Executive Summary
Heart disease and diabetes have been identified by regional authorities in the Middle East as two of the most significant causes of death. Statistics from the UAE ministry of health has said that heart disease accounts for a quarter of the nation's deaths each year. This has prompted German medical electronics company Sein Electronics to target the area for its heart and body fat monitoring system. It is due to launch the system at the Arab Health 2002 exhibition in Dubai in January. As a means of combating the region's growing prevalence of heart disease, there is an increasing trend towards healthcare monitoring at home in the Middle East, says Diete Bunte, managing director of Sein Electronics.
